YOGA as an ANTIDOTE for multitasking.

YOGA is a PRACTICE.  The essence of YOGA is the practice of uniting mind, body, and spirit.  How often do we move through life distracted with thoughts of another place and time?  Consumed with "shoulds" and "to-dos", we allow thoughts of "what's next" or regrets of past events to dilute the joy of where we are, who we are with, and what we are experiencing in the current moment.  As professionals, we are rewarded based on our ability to "be productive", which, in today's fast-paced technologically driven world, requires a healthy amount of multitasking to be considered "successful".

However, as humans, we are not designed to multitask.  The human being is created with the ability to simultaneously draw on many facets of the self as we navigate through life - all of which work in concert with each other to support making the best decisions or take the best action at any given time.  Discounting emotions while deciding on perhaps tangible factors only, or ignoring intuition and natural tendencies, can lead to behaviors and decisions that are not necessarily consistent with what is best for the individual.  If one adds social pressures "to be" a certain way and the related judgements, it is a wonder that any of us ever feel contented or that we are able to fully understand and express the best version of our unique selves.  Through the practice of yoga, including techniques like asana, pranayama, and meditation, each of us may get closer to our own innate human nature.  Through practice, these moments of peace and connection can help us remember those things that we each hold as most important or that bring us the greatest joy.

KRIPALU YOGA  is known as the YOGA OF COMPASSION and focuses on the health and well-being of the body, the mind, and the spirit. Classes begin with warm-up movements, centering, and breath awareness to prepare you for yoga postures. The heart of each class is a sequence of postures that stretch, strengthen and balance your body. Each class ends with deep relaxation and meditation.  This practice is offered so that those new to yoga can practice along side seasoned practitioners.  Unless otherwise noted, all levels are welcome. A schedule of group classes is available on the calendar.  Yoga programs on the calendar are designated by a red dot.  Private and Corporate Instruction is also available, as noted below.
The Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health is a nonprofit educational organization located in Stockbridge, MA., and is the largest yoga and holistic health retreat center in North America.  More information on this style of yoga is available at www.Kripalu.org

Those looking to learn how best to modify their personal yoga practice in order to address health and wellness goals or challenges might also consider an AYURVEDIC CONSULTATION,  When might you benefit most from a vigorous yoga practice, and when is it contraindicated?  How should your practice be modified daily to bring balance based on what you are feeling in this moment? Through understanding the TWO LAWS OF AYURVEDA, many clients have learned how to best leverage not just their personal practice, but also diet and lifestyle choices, in order to resolve, rather than create, imbalances in the body mind and spirit.  More information is available at Ayurveda.
